As awareness of environmental issues continues to grow, driven by concerns such as the impacts of climate change, the significance of our landscaping and greening business is being recognized anew, and our social mission is becoming even more crucial. Promoting landscaping and greening initiatives, including private gardens and urban green spaces, as well as preserving the natural environment, plays a vital role in improving living conditions. These green spaces help mitigate urban heat island effects and sudden heavy rains while also providing comfort and health benefits.

Our company, HANATOYO Landscape co., began in Ansei 6 (1859) with the cultivation and sale of flowers and plants. Based in Kyoto, the heart of Japan’s garden culture, we have been entrusted with numerous projects involving traditional landscaping techniques for Machi-ya townhouses, temples, shrines, and the gardens of Imperial Place. During Japan’s period of rapid economic growth, we actively participated in public greening projects. In recent years, we have leveraged our traditional gardening expertise to restore, maintain, and manage gardens recognized as cultural assets. Thanks to the support of many people, we have been able to continue our work in landscaping and greening for 165 years, responding to society’s needs. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for this continued trust.

We take pride in and bear the responsibility of shaping the future global environment while preserving and passing down the knowledge and techniques of Japan’s garden and landscaping culture. With a strong foundation in the traditional techniques inherited from our predecessors, we will continue to contribute to society.
